Chapter 9

Sonic looked around the room then back at Shadow ”I think they may have put Tails in the dungeon, you know where they put us before, that seems to be the place where they put people like us.” Sonic said in a whisper worried about any possibly guards near by hearing them talk. Sonic cautiously opened the large door that lead to the hallway and took a peek outside. No guards seemed to be in sight, this almost seemed to easy so far and somehow that made him more nervous. Sonic opened the door wide enough for both hedgehogs to step outside and look around again to make sure no one was in sight. “I guess we are parting our ways for now, you find Doom’s Eye and I find Tails just like planned. I will make sure to tell you with the headset if I find Tails. Oh and if you find Tails while look for Doom’s Eye or visa versa then we also contact each other then.” Sonic nodded to Shadow and put his game face one he quickly dash to the end of the hall wall and took a peak downstairs from the corner of the wall. One lonely guard stood at the end of the stairs, a smirk appeared on the blue hedgehog’s face, this sure did seem easy so far. He guessed because their spy had not tolled them about them being back on their planet that they were not on high alert for the two hedgehogs, they did not suspect a thing.

Shadow watched Sonic for a bit until he disappeared around the corner. He checked his hand gun to make sure the safety was off and it was loaded and he went in the opposite direction. He saw two guards chatting until they said good bye and one was coming closer to Shadow. Shadow waited behind a decorative curtain until the guard just passed him and he shot him. The guard fell with a thud. Shadow heard footsteps as another guard rounded the corner to check on his friend. He shot him too. The guard fell. He didn't kill them they were just tranquillising shots. Shadow honestly didn't know if any of these men had families and they were only doing their job. He hid them behind the large curtain and continued on. He passed the large doors in the corridor that led down to the dungeon he remembered them well. Thoughts of his body pressed against Sonic's in the cell made his face flush. Yeah the monster within him was about to make Sonic a pleasure slave but it still made his cock rise. He shook his head there was no time for that right now. He focused on his mission as headed towards Dooms Eye's chambers. He took out the guards and listened by the door. There was speaking inside. He would have to wait. He got an idea then. He stripped the guard of his uniform and wore it. He stood outside. Yeah he was shorter than the average guard but maybe this would work. He made his quills as flat as he could under the armour. Luckily he had the thought of mind to hide the other two cause a new guard came for duty. They briefly exchanged names as they stood at the door. Shadow just waited for his chance.

Meanwhile Sonic had gone down a large corridor making his way towards where he remembered the dungeon being, two guards stood outside some doors and there was no way they were going to let him casually walk past without a fight. So he did what he knew best and spin dashed the two guards rendering them both unconscious. Sonic opened the door that they were guarding seeing if they were guarding anything important, he looked inside but to his surprise at least from what he could see nothing importing looking was there. He had to be missing something important, he then noticed a small bed near end of the room and something was sleeping under the covers yet he could not tell who it was. It looked too small to be Tails so he slowly closed the door to not wake that person up and carried on looking for the dungeon. Sonic sensitive ears picked up the sound more guards making their way to where Sonic was. He looked behind him and realised he forgot to hide the bodies, he quickly ran to the two guards and quickly dragged both guards into the room they were guarding hoping desperately the person in there sleeping would not wake up. Sonic did not have time to run away to a different location so closed the door of the bed room leaving Sonic inside the bedroom hiding from the guards with, two unconscious guards by his feet and clearly someone important sleeping in the door. Sonic put his ears against the door he could guard me guards walked past the room and he took a deep breath realising they did not question the missing guards and kept walking. Perhaps two three guards were in a too deep of a conversation to realise the lack of guards that they missed. Sonic waited a couple minutes to make sure they were truly gone then tip toed his way out of the bedroom, hoping that the unconscious guards when wake up once he left the

Meanwhile with Shadow, finally the door opened and out came not Dooms Eye but the large assassin he had hired with a few of his men. They passed him without a second glance. He watched where they were going without turning his head and counted to fifty before he turned to the guard beside him and pleaded to use the restroom. The guard took pity on him and let him go with a warning not to dally. Shadow was glad he didn't have to take out that guard as he turned the corner just in time to see the assassin turn the corner. Shadow followed him carefully trying his best not to be alarming. He followed him all way to this spiral staircase that he had never seen before. He knew he would have to follow but he was gonna let Sonic know where he was. "Sonic. Come in Sonic. I haven't found Dooms Eye yet or Tails but I found his favourite guard. He led me to a spiral staircase in the East Wing. It looks like it leads up. I'm going in. What of you?" He asked in a soft voice into his watch. He didn't want to be caught and he didn't need to be that loud either because the microphone picks up the most minor of sounds.

Sonic ears twitches and he jumped slightly not expecting to hear a voice so suddenly come from the headset but very quickly calmed down know it was just Shadow talking to him, he completely forgot he was even wearing the headset because he was so focused on the task on hand of not getting found out. Sonic glanced up at the sleeping being in the bed to make sure they were still sleeping then went to respond to Shadow in a whisper. “Ok, be careful. I almost got caught but I was able to not be seen, I’m in someone’s bedroom, something small is sleeping in the bed but I can’t see who it is. I’m going to leave now and try to find the dungeon.” Sonic opened the door slowly taking a peak, no one was around and so he left the small bedroom walking down the hallway.

"Shouldn't you find out whose bedroom you were in? Doom is rather small but I just came from his chambers. Unless he moved his chambers." Shadow whispered as he walked slowly up the stairs looking for an exit. They were kind of free falling with only a strong railing holding it together. If he heard someone he could either throw them off or jump off and latch himself to the stairs. Escape plans written in his head he climbed the stairs to the top. They led to a separate balcony in the West wing. "Sonic? I am now in the west wing. These stairs lead straight to to the other side however I think I'm on the last floor of the castle. I hear whimpers. Maybe I found Tails. I'll tell you more when I know more." He said as he slid towards the balcony's door. He glanced over the railing and he he fell from this height he would surely die. Shadow reloaded his gun and took a deep breath. Whoever was in there would see him. If only there was a way to get a look at what he was dealing with.

Sonic felt like face palming himself, that’s right, Doom’s Eye from what he knew was basically the only small creature that could possibly be living in this castle. “Umm I knew that I’m just going to check to see if it’s him now” Sonic said lying a bit not wanting to admit what he must of obviously missed. Sonic quickly went back into the bedroom closing the door quietly behind him. He tip toed his way to the bed, making sure not to wake up the guards laying on the ground and the creature in the bed. Sonic took a deep breath in then slowly moved the cover slightly that covered the creature. Sonic’s emerald eyes widened, there before him was Doom’s Eye sleeping looking almost like it could of been frowning if it had a mouth. “Shadow?… can you hear me, I found him, Doom’s Eye he is here.” Luckily for Sonic Doom’s Eye remained at least for the moment in a heavy content sleep on his soft comfy bed.

"Lock him in there with you then." He sighed. "I'll find Tails." He was about storm the door but now knowing that monster might be in there with Tails terrified Shadow. His ears twitched as he heard something coming towards the door he jumped into action and hung off the balcony. He heard the door open and close. Hard clicks of claws retreated down the steps as Shadow lifted himself to peak. The large assassin left carrying a large bag. He would deal with him later. Shadow pulled himself back over the balcony and tried the door. It was, of course, locked. Picking lock Shadow opened the door to what looked like a make shift torture room. A knot settled in his stomach as he saw tuffs of yellow fur and specs of blood littering the floor. Please god no. "Tails? Are you here?" He looked around the room looking for clues. He sniffed the air the smell of blood was fresh. "Please don't let's us be too late" Shadow whispered as he looked around the room. Hooks hung from the wall. Tools of surgery littered a tray on a small table covered in blood and still dripping obviously recently used. There was a wooden machine meant to keep  a target stretched out. He brought a gloved hand to his mouth as he forced himself to breathe. Bile rose up in his throat. What if they were too late? "Sonic. He's not here but he was. I think the assassin has him."

“Oh no, please try to find Tails, Shadow he must be near by.” Sonic said rising his voice a little too much awakening the power creature before him. “Uh… I may have just woke him up Shadow…” Sonic quickly ran to the door locking it hoping that was stop Doom’s Eye from escaping. Doom’s Eye raised from his bed hovering in the air, our rage in his eye. “You pathetic excuse of a hero, did you get in here without us knowing.” Doom’s eye said then noticed the guards on his floor seemingly asleep. “Guards! kill this beast!” Doom’s Eye yelled alerting guards who were near by, they tried to opened the door only to discover it was locked. But something tolled Sonic it would not take them long to eventually take the door down. “It’s just you and me, we are ending this now!” Sonic yelled out pointing towards the creature before him.

"Shit! Do your best to keep him contained! And Sonic? Don't die," Shadow said as he ran down the stairs chasing after the bulky demon. When he got to the bottom there was no one there. He must have taken too long in the room. He lifted his nose in the air trying to pick out scents he recognised. He smelled Tails, bloody and faint. He followed it hoping he wasn't too late.
Tails awoke in pain like he had almost every hour he was here. He wasn't chained to a wall so that was an upside but he was moving. He opened his eyes a little more to find he couldn't see. At first panic seized his heart thinking they took away his sight until his vision focused and he could see plastic. He was in some sort of bag. Suddenly they stopped and he was falling. He hit something hard and the wind was knocked out of him as he gasped for air. The bag opened to the monster who had been torturing him for answers. "Oh you're awake," he grinned a mouth full of razor sharp piranha looking teeth. He was hooking him up to something but at least his arms were at his side now. He only prayed Sonic would come for him soon or he might just die here.

Sonic smirked at hearing that last remark from Shadow, this was going to be no problem after all he was Sonic the hedgehog fastest thing alive, nothing could stop this speeding hedgehog. Sonic got out a chaos emerald that he held onto in case of an emergency, Shadow had the others with him. The blue hedgehog jumped out of the way before he could of got hit by the demon before him called Doom’s eye. Chaos spear light projections were fired towards Sonic, which the blue hedgehog easily and almost mockingly dogged, doing back flips and even taking a second to stick his tongue out at the angered demon creature before him. Doom’s Eye yelled out in rage at the annoying and pathetic display that Sonic did, or at least in his mind that’s what he thought. “Any luck with Finding Tails, Shadow?” Sonic said quickly then dodging another attack. “Who are you talking to? Is Shadow here too?!” Doom’s Eye said in fury “Guards find our dear Shadow he’s around her somewhere in the castle!” Doom’s Eye yelled out in the Black Arm language to the guards outside the room trying to get in in. “Uhh Shadow the guards may be trying to find you now.” Sonic said.

Shadow cursed at Sonic's warning. He had a few minutes before word spread. The castle was big enough to stall for a few before they raise the alarms. He sniffed the air a little deeper taking in more of the scent. He had a basic trail mapped out in his mind and followed it as fast as his legs would carry him. He burst through every door that stood in his way till he finally slammed open the one holding Tails. Relief swam through him as he locked eyes with Tails but he didn't look so relieved. He looked terrified at seeing him. Before he could ponder why something hard slammed into the back of his head dropping him to the ground. Trying to shake the dizziness that made his head spin made his reaction time slow. His gut was personally introduced to a very hard boot. It knocked the air straight out of his lungs. He gasped as rolled over with the flow of the kick. He looked up at the menacing gleam of the huge demon. He raised his foot high and Shadow did the only thing he could think of he curled into a ball and let his razor sharp quills meet his foot. It was no surprise that they went through his shoe with his own force. He screamed in pain as he yanked back. He pulled out gun and aimed it at Tails. "Say goodbye," he sneered in Black Arms. Shadow saw red. His fangs and claws grew in an instant. He dashed for the other demon and slashed at his arm tearing it open. He screamed but Shadow didn't stop he continued slashing until the pain filled gut wrenching screams had ceased. His vision cleared but he still saw red. Not understanding he took a few steps back. He looked in horror when all he saw was a gigantic blood splatter with remnants of what was left if the assassin. He looked at Tails who looked at him with the same horror.

Tails heard before he saw Shadow. He must've let something slip because his captor smiled and stood back melding to the shadows. Shadow burst through the door and joy lit up his face. Tails tried to warn him of the danger but his mouth was gagged. Shadow just stood there and got hit. He watched as Shadow was being beaten before he heard a howl of pain. The demon was favouring his foot as Shadow slowly unfurled blood dripping of his back. The demon pointed the barrel of a gun at Tails and Tails sent up a silent prayer in case he really didn't make it out of this a alive. Within a blink of an eye Shadow's form changed into the demon king that had tried to kill them before. He slashed the gun out of the demon's hand and continued slashing tearing him apart bit by bit like a child opening their first present on Christmas. He watched as his tormenter was destroyed with satisfaction but what scared him was what was the demon king going to do now?

While all that was happening with Shadow, Sonic on the other hand was still trying to not get hit from Doom’s Eye. After awhile he realised he had to stop dodging and finally start attack, he had to stop him right here right now. Doom’s Eye had caused so much trouble in the past for himself, Shadow and their world, putting millions of innocent and admittedly not so innocent lives in danger. Sure there were several bad people in his world but non of them were evil like Doom’s Eye was, trying to destroy all life in a planet without a second thought. Sonic saw his opportunity and leaped towards the demon homing attacking him sending the creature flying through the glass window that was behind him, he fell a great length landing in the large castle garden.

The demon Doom’s Eye tentacles and back of his head hurt greatly from hitting the hard crystal ground, with spiky purple and blue flowers surrounding him. Sonic looked out the broken window staring down at the demon. Sonic quickly broke off some of the large sharp glass that was still somehow stuck in the window making a way for him to leap out without scratching himself. Luckily for him he was wearing gloves like usual so he did not scratch his hand getting the glass out of the way. Sonic leaped out the window bracing himself for the fall and landing right next to Doom’s Eye with a small smirk on his face. Using the power of the Chaos Emerald Sonic had he powered himself up and homing attack Doom’s Eye before he could attack him. The power chaos homing attack made all of Sonic razor sharp quills stab the small demon in multiple places all at once, blood dripping out of him. A few more hits like that and he could finally defeat Doom’s Eye, but Sonic was not really a killer, not like Shadow making the demon bleed that must was already a lot of him. Sonic was more used to killing Eggman’s robots than actual living things. “Shadow you there? everything alright? Doom’s Eye is pretty hurt right now.” Sonic said into the headset waiting for an answer from Shadow.

The speaker buzzed in his ear but Shadow couldn't register the words. He stood from his hunched position over the bloody mess his eyes locked with Tails'. His nostrils burned with the scent of blood and decay but also with something else. For the first time he could actually smell fear. The pungent odour wafted through the room pouring out of Tails' body like a nasty perfume. He wrinkled his nose in disgust. He had to make Tails stop being afraid. "Tails...its me Shadow," he said as he stepped cautiously towards him. Even though he knew Tails was tied down he still walked toward his as if he could just flee at a moments notice. Tails' eyes fixed on him searching his face for any sign of betrayal. "Tails I'm no longer possessed. I defeated that demon." Tails said nothing as his mouth pinched into a firm line. Clearly he did not believe him if that look of disapproval was anything to go by. Shadow not sure how to handle him grew frustrated. "Look. If I was really the bad guy I woulda just killed ya alright!" He snapped and then blinked as the sound of his own words were sinking in. He was picking up Sonic's stupid speech patterns. He groaned and covered his face in his hand. If he didn't love the blue blur so much he might have just punched him. He smiled wryly up at Tails who was now beaming down at him. Seems like he passed the test.

Tails smiled down at this Shadow, his fears erased. The other one wasn’t sure about certain things and did its best to worm its way into Sonic's good graces. He never got angry until he was caught in his lie. Shadow cut him down and caught him. But Shadow here alone made him worry about other things. Like where was Sonic? The fear must have been plain on his face because in that instant Shadow spoke "Sonic, come in. I have Tails. Where are you?" Tails noticed the little gadget hooked up to his ear and was proud that he may have rubbed off on Shadow if he was using such techy gear. All of a sudden a loud blaring noise could be hear above them. Little red flashes here and there whirled in circles. Tails heard Shadow curse. "The alarm system. Shit. Come Tails," he said as he started running ahead before he stopped. He turned to him and looked him up and down slowly probably assessing his injuries. "You cant even walk can you?" He asked. Tails shook his head. "Not much. I can walk but I think I have a few broken bones so it makes doing so painful." He looked up tears starting to build as the images of what was done flashed through his head. He had never felt more useless. He was surprised when he felt  his feet leave the floor. "No brother of mine will be left behind.” Shadow smiled as he dashed out of the room. That made Tails pause for a moment. Brother? But they weren't...oh! If he married Sonic they would be. It may have been childish but at that moment Tails smiled with glee at his brother's new found happiness. If they could just live to enjoy it, that would be great.

Outside the castle Sonic eagerly awaited for Shadow’s response only to never get one, his ears twitched and a slight upset frown appeared on his face. He trusted the black and red hedgehog could take care of himself, maybe he was too busy to respond but he could not help but worry that maybe he did not respond because he got hurt or worse. Sonic just hoped that Shadow had already rescued his twin tailed fox brother Tails. Suddenly several guards came running outside and surrounded Sonic, all of them holding some sort of weapon and they started to attack Sonic, only problem for them is that Sonic was too fast to be hit. None of them could react quick enough to get a good shot at him. Gradually one by one he took them out managed to hit them hard enough for them to drop their weapons and black out from the hard hit to the head by the very spiky blue hedgehog. Sonic smirked at his work, he was always confident in himself getting the job done. He looked down at the guards and noticed on their outfits a long velvet belt around them, it looked like they were there more for fashion than protection, unlike the amour their wore. Sonic took some of their soft belt like rope and used it to tie up Doom’s Eye tentacles to stop him from escaping if he were to wake up suddenly. “Mmm now what to do with someone like you who causes so much trouble…” Sonic said softly to himself in deep though. “I wonder what Shadow is doing right now, he never did answer me. I might as well try to contact him again, if not I will go and find him myself.” Sonic said then pressed a small button on his headset so he could talk to Shadow. “Hey Shadow? Are you there? Guess who I have tied up… and no it’s not me.” Sonic said chuckled.

Shadow ran with Tails through the halls as Sonic's message buzzed in and out. He could only hear bits and pieces. He frowned. "Tails pressed the top left button on my watch and hold it." When Tails did so he spoke. "Sonic! Come in Sonic! I have Tails but he's badly hurt. I can't fight off the guards this way. We are heading towards the kings chambers! Meet us there!" He said into the speaker. He could only hope that Sonic got the message. "Its the sirens," Tails said. "They message with the signals probably to prevent invaders from talking to one another. Smart actually." Shadow chuckled until he turned the corner and saw a bunch on guards rushing towards them. "Hold tight" he said which Tails did immediately. He ran at them full tilt and jumped over them. He had never done this before but he knew it could be done because he watched Sonic do it when saving Amy so many times. He stepped on on guys face to gain more momentum and landed. He smiled briefly before zipping off to the kings room. As soon as they were inside he didn't bother to lock the door. Sonic wouldn't be able to get in otherwise. Instead he put Tails into the four poster bed with the thick black curtains and latched the insides. The former kings were so paranoid that someone, like their own guards, would shoot them in their sleep that they actually enchanted their curtains to be bullet proof. Of course they could still be torn down but the fabric wouldn't tear. No it would be the beam supporting them that would break. Then again they built this for line assassins not armies, but it should still hold for a while. After latching both sides he crawled into bed beside Tails and set up his sniper rifle. He aimed it at the door and closed the curtains around the tip so it wasn't noticeable through the slip and waited. He didn't have to wait long. Guards pounded on the door before it flew open. He took shot after shot as they stood stunned at the doorway not knowing where the shots were coming from. Half of them were dead already and he was running out of bullets. He reached a hand back and Tails handed him more ammo. As he reloaded the sound gave away their location. The stupid guards started shooting at the curtains. "Stay down!" He whispered at Tails who promptly laid back down. A few bullets flew over his head through the slit in the curtains that he left open. He shot down the rest and reloaded. He waited, hoping that no more would come. He didn't want to kill anymore of his people.

Sonic worry for Shadow raised even more when he once again did not get a reply, dread filled his stomach not that the hedgehog would admit it if you asked him but he was really worried for the hedgehog who could clearly take care of himself possibly better than Sonic could take care of himself at times. Sonic quickly grabbed hold of the tied up Doom’s Eye and felt him trying to squirm in his hands starting to wake up. Sonic quickly ran off into the castle holding the small but not adorable Black Arm in his arms looking for Shadow. Maybe he was in the kings room, that seems to be his usual hiding spot and where they always seemed to coincidentally meet. Using his super sonic speed the blue speedster run up the familiar spiral stairs near the top of the castle where his dearest yet slightly scary at times Shadow would hopefully be hiding. After what felt like forever for the worrying hedgehog holding a very annoyed alien in his arms trying to get away he finally made it to the large doors that led to the kings room. Loud gun shots and yelling could be heard on the other side, clearly he had found Shadow and it sounded like he must have everything under control. He rushed into the room and finally laid his eyes on the hedgehog and fox he had longed to be reunited again with. “Tails! you are alright!” Sonic said acting almost obviously to the fight Shadow was clearly having. “Let go of me you freak!” yelled out a angry and sore Doom’s Eye that fidgeted in Sonic peach arms.

Shadow stilled his finger on the trigger when Sonic ran in. He almost shot him. He sighed and placed his face in the soft cushions of the bed. Tails shouted out to him "In here!" He stuck his hand out over Shadow. He knew cause he could feel the hairs on his neck rise. He had to focus on his breathing. He terrified himself. He almost shot Sonic. He would have been his murderer. Flashes of Sonic's dead body on the floor ran through his mind. He shook his head to clear the images. He raised his head. "Yeah. We are here." He said shakily. "Is that Doom's eye I hear?" He crawled out of the bed with his rifle in hand. He stared at the very annoyed alien. "So what are we going to do with him?" He nodded towards the alien. Shadow had half a mind to just shoot him and end it but he wouldn't do it without Sonic's approval. He knew if he did then neither of them might never be comfortable around each other again. He glared at the little alien that had practicality kidnapped him and made him into a monster.
Tails was still on the bed. He opened the curtains so he could see more. He wasn't prepared to see all the bodies that littered  the floor. He gasped. He had help Shadow kill these people. He handed him the bullets. He’s just as guilty as Shadow was. 'But they were going to kill you and Shadow' a little voice in his head told him. 'Shadow was only protecting you. Look what they already did to you!' He nodded agreeing with the voice. They had already tortured Tails to near death and now they were really trying to kill them. Rage welled up inside him for a moment and he spat on their bodies. He couldn't feel any sympathy for these...monsters. He looked up to see Sonic's shocked face and Shadow's slightly amused look. "What?" He asked now feeling embarrassed.

Sonic was shocked by Tails behaviour, he even almost yet go of the squirming Doom’s Eye in his arms at that moment. But when he noticed the cuts and bruises on his little brother he suddenly did not mind too much. He would of been annoying too if he was hurt like that, poor guy he hated when his adventures got someone hurt. Noticing the gun Shadow had, admittedly made Sonic a little uneasy especially considering he could of mistaken him for a intruder but luckily for Sonic, Shadow was good at not shooting the wrong people, his reflexes were good. “I don’t know what we should do with Doom’s Eye, he’s caused us so much trouble. Shame he does not seem to just follow your orders, I mean you are still king right?” Sonic said to Shadow in front of him. “Or does destroying the crown reverse the privilege of being the king of a planet that’s trying to destroy our home planet.” Sonic said in a slight sarcastic tone to his voice. The blue hedgehog looked out towards Tails, wishing he had medical equipment to help him but for now he had to wait before he could bandage him up.

"Usually in history the crown is passed to right of blood which he had already confirmed, I am. In all honesty I believe we should just get rid of him for good. Leaving him alone to come back and hurt us is a bad idea. Its not good enough for him to have been defeated and just stop. He will be back. Unfortunately that is something I can say with good faith.” Shadow sighed and leaned all his weight onto one hip lifting the rifle over his shoulder. He eyed the annoying alien with a critical glare. The alien just stared back at him with defiance. Yup that alien was definitely trouble. Tails walked as best as he could over to the group. His legs were bruised and cut but luckily no broken bones. He looked at the little alien that had him tortured. He frowned deeply. He just couldn't find it in his heart to forgive him.

Sonic looked down at the increasingly annoyed alien in his arms, it was almost comical how angry he looked. “Mmm well how could we possibly get rid of such a nuisance.” Sonic tapped his foot glaring at the alien. “How about we maybe send him to another galaxy or another dimension, I mean who knows how much fun Doom’s Eye could be having there, maybe he will meet other cruel aliens like himself. Sonic looked back up at Shadow, a part of him was joking when he said that, but at the same time he knew he was not. Doom’s Eye was a serious problem, his planet and possibly many others could be destroyed because of this guy and he knew there had to be a way to get rid of such a bad alien like him. When all this was over Sonic could not wait to finally relax again, imagines of him taking a soapy bath with Shadow entered his mind for a second but he quickly shook that though out knowing he should try to not get distracted like that. Right now was what was important, which is saving his planet and getting back at Tails being hurt the way he was, he did nothing wrong.

Shadow knew the hero well enough to know he did not kill whether the enemy deserved or not. However Doom's Eye was too smart for prison and there would always be some greedy idiot that he could bribe with promise of power. Not to mention prison would just be a stepping stone for him to recruit more villains. Nope. Not happening. Not on his watch. Sonic was too precious and he glanced at Tails. Had he not lost control or been distracted he probably would have been spared all that pain. Oh well. Its not like he had never played the bad guy before. Without another hesitation he took out his handgun and shot the alien straight through his large accusing eye. Now he had to change the minds of his people. He knew he couldn't just kill everyone who became a problem but he would have no one be a serious threat. Great. Now he sounds just like the monster they were fighting. He shook his head and put the gun away. "Problem solved. Now I'm sure there is a doctor in this castle somewhere. I'll go take a look," Shadow said careful not to look either hero in the eye. He wouldn't be able to stand the look... of what? Disappointment? Shock? Sadness? Fear? Yup definitely the last one. He wouldn't be able to handle it if Sonic looked at him with fear. He ran out of the room without another word. He sped down the halls trying to remember where the doctor's rooms were. The monster in his head visited once to make sure the transformation was going according to plan.
Tails stood there stunned as the loud bang of the gunshot rang throughout the room. The way Shadow spoke after was just so cold. Yeah he was angry too but that was still a life. They could have just sealed him away or something. He looked at Sonic who was still holding the dead body with a now bloodied glove. He seemed to be in shock like Tails. Without the strength to stand anymore Tails fell to the ground. He looked at the bodies littering the floor. What has this adventure done to them?

Time seemed to stand still and things became a bit blurry for the blue hedgehog but after several moments time seemed to carry on like normal and it seemed that Shadow was already gone. Sonic thought he heard him say something to him but he seemed to have fazed him at that moment. It wasn’t until moments like this that Sonic remember what Shadow was, a science experiment, to 1 be able to cure diseases and 2 to be a weapon of mass destruction at the same time. He could suddenly feel a smaller being hugging him, he looked and saw Tails who looked beaten, tired and like he was going to faint, he had weakly made his way to him after falling to the ground moments before. He then realised how violently he was shaking at that moment, no he was meant to be the stronger one. But right now, knowing his feelings for Shadow and the feels that were returned he could not help but feel much more upset all this. He always got upset when he became violent but it scared him easily he was able to kill someone like that in front of him. He almost felt sorry for Doom’s Eye, almost. He breathed in and out noticing how he was holding his breath for a while there. He had to remember why Shadow did that, he also killed if he felt he had too and he old killed the bad. He just had to remind himself that, Doom’s Eye would of just killed millions of lives if they had not stopped him. So in killing one life they saved millions, now he just had to remember now. Sonic rubbed his face closing his eyes feeling sweat falling down his face, he had to get out and get some fresh air. But feeling weak at that moment meant he could not go all the way outside so instead he just decided to go to the open window and breath in the fresh air with Tails on his side. The two brothers sat here trying to take in everything that had happened to them and how happy they were to be alive. No one ever said being a hero was easy.
